| when i was about 13 years old i was a courtney love fan. both my best friend and i just got our first guitars (hers was a black bass fender, mine -a big, brown sunburst acoustic), and we would sit and play the entire "mtv hole unplugged" from beginning to end. it was easy enough for us, there where only 3 chords on each song. looking back i now see where i picked up that nasty habit for songwriting. |

it took me 9 years to finally start writing my own songs. encouraged by my friend omri, i started composing old lyrics and writing new ones, not realizing that this batch of songs lining up in my head have a certain purpose, they are dedicated to someone i would lose only after i wrote them.
in may 2006 my beloved grandmother passed away. she was truly one of my earliest and biggest inspirations, and these songs that ended up on "bloodlines", as i later realized, seemed to be pieces of some sort of heritage: feminine heritage, survival heritage, and ultimately, an intense connection i share with the women in my family. a connection seeming to precede me or my grandmother - and perhaps this album was just my weird way of finding that out.
many people helped make this record complete - some of them are linked in the links section. i truly hope you would enjoy this record as much as i enjoyed making it - and of course, you can always write me with anything that's on your mind. |
